COURSE DESCRIPTION
Poetry Revision Workshop will focus on deep feedback and revision of existing poems. The goal will be to evolve and refine each poet’s work toward publication in a generous and supportive environment.
If you have a manuscript in progress or a stack of first drafts that could benefit from feedback, this is a chance to revisit and revise individual pieces in the company of other poets. You are also welcome to write new poems to workshop, but new work is not required.
Each week I will offer optional revision prompts, and students will submit a poem of their choosing for written feedback, and read and reflect on their fellow poets’ work. Time in class will be dedicated to workshopping student poems in small groups. Deep discussion and feedback will provide the opportunity to become a better poet, a more observant reader, and a more thoughtful editor of your own work and the work of others.
